A QIM workshop was held within the framework of the European Concerted Action Fish Quality Labelling and Monitoring. Approx. 25 participants from all over Europe attended this hands-on workshop in IJmuiden, The Netherlands. Grethy Hyldig and Emilia Martinsdottir from the QIM Eurofish strategic alliance were the trainers.
The QIM methodology was introduced at the auction of Scheveningen in the Netherlands as a tool for evaluating freshness of landed fish. The auction graded landed fish according a refined EU classification of E, A+, A, A-, B+,B and B- using QIM as reference method. AVRO, one of the Dutch broadcasting companies, paid attention to the auction grading activities. The auction manager, the auction fish inspector and Joop Luten from the QIM strategic alliance were interviewed.
